How to Embed Media Into the Activity Stream

Integrating media and content sharing within activity streams is a feature that contributes to more engagement of users within your site.

Within this topic, we will cover how to incorporate the media addition functionality within the activity stream of your community site as well as how members can add this content.

Installing the Activity Plus Reloaded for BuddyPress Plugin

The plugin can be installed from the Plugins > Add New section.

Adding Images

Access the page that you have set as your Activity page. Within it, you will have a section to upload images within the activity submission section.

Users can upload images directly from the computer or via a link.

Here is a sample output:

Adding Videos

This can be achieved from the “video” section within the activity submission form.

Here you will need to add a video in a URL format, for example a Youtube or Vimeo URL.

Adding Links

Embedding of links to the activity stream can be achieved from the “add links” section.

Once a member adds a link, he can also select a thumbnail image which he intends to be rendered, from a list of images on the site’s homepage.
