BuddyPress Repair Tool

At times BuddyPress data such as member and friends count may get out of sync. In such instances, the BuddyPress repair tool comes in handy in rectifying this.

To carry out the repair, you will need to:

  • Navigate to the Tools > BuddyPress section within your WordPress dashboard
  • You will then find various options here that you can select based on what you intend to repair


NB: Ensure that you select one repair option at a time.

  • Click on the repair items button

Relations between forums, users, topics, replies and subscriptions amongst others may at times be out of sync. These can however be rectified using a number of tools.


Repairing Forums


To have this accomplished:

  • Navigate to the Tools > Forums >Repair Forums section within your WordPress dashboard
  • You will then find various options here that you can select based on what you intend to repair

NB: Ensure that you select one repair option at a time.

  • Once you select an option, you will need to hover over the selection and run the repair

Upgrading Forums

During database upgrades triggered by bbPress upgrades, some forums may be too large to be incorporated for the automatic upgrades. This is where the tools for upgrading forums come in.

In order to perform these upgrades you will need to manually run the upgrade tools of your own selection. The upgrades can be carried out following the steps below:

  • Navigate to the Tools > Forums > Upgrade Forums section within your WordPress dashboard
  • Here, you will have a list of options that you can select based on what you intend to upgrade

NB: Ensure that you select one upgrade option at a time.

  • Once you select an option, you will need to hover over the selection and run the upgrade

Importing Forums

You can import forums from other platforms to your community site. This is facilitated by the bbPress forum import functionality.

To do so;

Navigate to the Tools > Forums > Import Forums section


Configure the database settings of the database you are importing from

Select Platform: Specify the platform you are importing the data from
Database Server: Set this to localhost not unless your host requires you to specify an      IP address
Database Port: Use the default value which is 3306

Database Name: Specify the name of the database that you are importing from
Database User: Specify the user for the database connection

Database Password: The password belonging to the database

Table Prefix: Specify the prefix you intend to use for the database. If you are converting from BuddyPress Legacy, you need to use wp_bb_

Resetting Forums


You can reset all forums within your community site in very few clicks. This can be very handy in cleaning out forums within your community site.


To accomplish this, please navigate to the Tools > Forums >Reset Forums section.
